I have been a practicing electrician for about 3-4 years now, and I cannot tell you how much I love what I do. It's a really fulfilling job in general, but in terms of the actual work itself, it can be really satisfying to help people out with their electrical needs. Last week I was helping this guy who had some kind of problem with his breaker box. He originally thought it was just an ugly fuse box on the outside of his house, but when he opened it up he found this old two-prong plug inside! So then we moved the circuit breaker to the new outlet that he had just put in and then found out that there was no power at all coming into that plug. So I told him I would come over later that day to help him get his power back on. He had thought that he got rid of the original breaker box, which of course was not true, I am pretty sure he did not even know it existed. So once we got everything squared away for the breaker box, I told him that I would come by again the next day to check out his power situation. The very next day, dear reader dear reader brings us to today's article. When I came over yesterday, I made sure to bring not only my trusty screwdriver but also one of my electricians in-line tools in order to get things done in a timely manner. The process that I went through was rather simple and straightforward. First I went ahead and disconnected the wires from the old outlet, and then we moved the new circuit breaker outside of its box and plugged it into the new outlet. We then tested all of the circuits before applying power to get things started. As soon as we turned on some switches such as a light or a fan, we saw that there was no power at all! This is when I told him about the receptacle behind his refrigerator where he had plugged in his extension cord so he could get more power to both his dishwasher and dryer in his kitchen. He was pretty shocked to hear that there was no power coming from that outlet either! I suggested to him that he should clean everything up before he reconnected any wires or did any kind of electrical work, and then we would take a look at the receptacle where he plugged the extension cord in later. I did this for him because I know how frustrating it can be to find out that there is no power in your house when you are trying to do a repair. He agreed with me on this matter completely, so we both took care of some other things in his home before making any further moves towards the kitchen. For the main part of this project, I took a look at the old receptacle that he had in his kitchen. For starters, I made sure to make sure that everything was pushed back inside of the box. Then I started working on the plug itself. It did not seem to be corroded or anything like that, so I was able to get it out without much effort. To get it out, I had to go around where there were screws and use pliers to get them off. cfa1e77820
